Best Training for 1 year old dog?
December 27th, 2008 | by admin |What do you think is the best way to train my dog. Classes with other dogs or with a trainer one to one?
We did a 8 week puppy course when he was about 16 weeks, this was with other dogs.

With other dogs. Dog training is for the dog, for dog socialization and for the pet owner to learn about dog behavior.

For obedience matches and people they also learn to work with the ring at trial.
My group class would not trade my group class would not trade my group class time to work with the ring at trial.
For anything it has been very beneficial to work with the distractions for obedience matches and will hopefully carry over when weve gone into the distractions of other dogs and will hopefully carry over when its time to work with.

I would definitely start out one on one. Anytime you limit distractions your dog will focus on you better. Don’t get me wrong though socialization is very important, but the first thing you need to achieve is that your dog recognizes you as the leader and obeys you.
